British media go nuts over Rooney’s bicycle kick

The England team landed in Germany (or to be precise in their World Cup HQ at Baden Baden) last night, along with the burden of nation’s aspirations of becoming world champions lying heavy on their shoulders.

And just hours before flying off, there was joyous news from the England training camp when striker Wayne Rooney, who is nursing a broken bone in his foot, was seen kicking the ball without much pain.

In fact the news about Rooney training about has sent the British media into a state of ecstatic delirium. Almost all of them today carried a photograph of Rooney doing a bicycle kick in that training session. The Sun even went as far as running a page one lead with the word ‘There is a God’ in bold, backed with a photograph of Rooney doing the bicycle kick.

Rooney will undergo a scan tomorrow to ascertain when he can start full training again. Once again the British media is speculating that Rooney’s speedy recovery means that he could even start England’s second match against Trinidad and Tobago on June 15.

However until the full prognosis is made and then given sufficient time for him to regain full fitness, the news about Rooney’s early return remains purely a media speculation.
