A very comfortable victory for England

It was a perfect send off for England to the World Cup. In their last home game before flying off to Germany, the team gave their fans a performance which increased the conviction that this could be England’s year.

A 6-0 thumping of Jamaica is very unlikely to be repeated at the World Cup but nevertheless the scoreline underlined the fact that England is heading to Germany in a good form.

Supporters are Old Trafford forgot about the injured Wayne Rooney as lanky striker Peter Crouch played an excellent claim to stake his place in the staring line-up.

He scored three goals – celebrated with his now familiar robo-dance, and even managed to sky a penalty. Other England scorers were Michael Owen, Frank Lampard and an own goal by Jamaica.

The FA knew very well that it needed to rouse the supporters before flying off to Germany and smartly chose Jamaica as the final friendly.

And it paid off big time. The players are full of confidence and the supporters have faith that their team will go all the way.

When the stadium announcer wished the team all the best at the end of the game, a long stirring cheers and claps from the supporters followed, to give the players a perfect send off.

In one weeks time, England will kick start their campaign against Paraguay. That won’t be as easy as this game but with what they have, England should win that game easily too.
