Argentina turn on the style to win big

Argentina 6 – Maxi Rodriguez (6), (41), Esteban Cambiasso (31), Hernan Crespo (78), Carlos Tevez (84), Lionel Messi (88).
Serbia and Montenegro 0

Argentina gave a 6-star performance today to totally demolish Serbia and Montenegro by 6-0. Playing short, simple, one touch-two touch passing, the South Americans brought entertainment and style to their play. Their class was such that they could afford to bring in Carlos Tevez and Lionel Messi as substitutes to score the last two goals in the match.

The best goal of the game (and perhaps of the tournament thus far) has to be the second goal scored by midfielder Esteban Cambiasso. He finished off a move which involved a string of 24 passes which started inside the Argentinian half.

Once again, Juan Roman Riquelme, Javier Mascherano and Javier Saviola played and combined excellently in the well-oiled midfield area.

Another highlight was the introduction of Messi in the 78th minute and he did not waste any time insetting up Crespo’s goal – fourth for the night.

Argentina moved into the second round with ease and their fearsome show of attacking strength will definitely instill some fear in any opposition.

For those who had missed the game, here is a chance to watch the goals:
